Energy as a catalyst

This work focuses on the relationships that develop between glass, ceramics, heat, light and the artist. 

Cast parian pieces are placed into the kiln with glass inside, an intimate exchange occurs in the heat, glass responding to the ceramic form holding memories of their touch as it falls through the crafted aperture.

Post firing, when light passes through that aperture, mesmerising patterns emerge.

Responding to the materiality of the glass and the forms created in the kiln, these patterns cast onto the surfaces surrounding the work.

Encountered in the dark, the works are installed in an environment that speaks to the spaces in which the work is created.
